Sleep n Restore

Will Sleep n Restore Help You Sleep Better?

Sleep n Restore claims it helps promote a more restful, deeper sleep while supporting your body’s natural restoration processes.   Does that mean that I will get a great night’s sleep and on top of that my body will be restored to a healthy vibrant being.  We all know that when a person gets a good night sleep our bodies naturally get some restorative help.  That is why our bodies “scream” for sleep because it is so important for our body to have that time to rest and heal.  Sleep n Restore feels it has the ingredients that will cause this to happen.  But, does it really?

Sleep n Restore Ingredients and Research

They have six main ingredients that they even tell the amounts contained in their product:

  1. Vitamin E—(30IU) it is a fat soluble antioxidant.  They say that it protects the body from oxidative damage because of daily activity.  However, there is no good evidence that support any health benefits, yet there is strong evidence that if taking more than 400 IU per day for a long period of time increases risk of death.  Evidence also shows it has no significant role in antioxidant metabolism.
  2. Calcium—(72mg) there is no evidence that calcium has anything to do with sleep other than it does help with muscle cramps
  3. Melatonin—(3mg) a hormone that helps some types of insomnia
  4. Valerian—(100mg)  an herb that says it is a sedative for nervous tension
  5. Glutamine-(800mg)  it is used for healing purposes
  6. Grape Seed Extract—(25mg)  is an antioxidant

Sleep n Restore Value

Sleep n Restore is something that claims a lot of hype but not enough solid evidence to back up what they claim.  Vitamin E studies show that there is not enough evidence that it does not help play a role in antioxidant metabolism.  That is one of their main ingredients and it really does not do what they are promoting!  Calcium is something our bodies need and most of us do not get as much as our bodies need.  However, calcium does not really have anything to do with sleep.  Muscle cramps can wake us up at night so for that reason it is good to have enough calcium in our bodies but 72 mg is not going to make much difference.  Melatonin and Valerian are very common in sleep aid products.   They may have their ingredients quantities listed on the package but most people do not know what that means!  It just sounds good!   The price of the product is very inexpensive at about $6.99 for 20 tablets but maybe not worth that!  If you are looking for superior sleep aids check out Sleep-aids.com to see what they recommend
